So how are baselayers able to offer these benefits? Well these technical garments are engineered to compress critical parts of the body, offering support and regulation of blood and other chemicals in the muscles. One of the chief chemicals compression sports baselayers regulate is lactic acid. This product of the body builds up in the muscles when exertion takes place and can lead to cramps and tiredness - baselayers compress the muscles and so push this chemical away from the muscle, meaning recovery and stamina are improved.
The special compression patches engineered into sports baselayers also offer real support for critical areas of the body - this protects the muscle and supporting tissues from the worst effects of over exertion when training or playing sports and can improve the performance of an athlete.
Maintaining body heat

This is especially important with energetic snow sports, where the wearer needs to remain dry and free from sweat so that body heat is not leeched away when stopped.
